Local authorities

Kennington and Vauxhall are mainly in the borough of Lambeth (Bishop’s, Oval and Prince’s wards) but some of the streets immediately to the east of Kennington Park Road (on the same side as Kennington underground station) are in Southwark (Newington ward). Both councils have websites which provide detailed information about services and who to contact for help, as well as how to contact councillors and officials.

If you need to find out who are your local councillors, you can use the websites if you have internet access and know your postcode.  If you do not have internet access or do not know your postcode, you can ring the council.  Staff in the local public library (the Durning Library in Kennington Lane) will help you if necessary.

Local councillors usually hold regular advice surgeries for people living in their wards.  Details are given on the websites but you can also ring or write to find out where their advice surgeries are held, or ask in the public library.  You do not have to make an appointment to attend an advice surgery.
